A Guide to Indian Cooking Classes

Have you ever craved the vibrant flavours of a steaming hot curry or the comforting aroma of freshly baked naan? Indian cuisine, with its rich tapestry of spices and regional variations, offers an endless culinary adventure. But where do you begin?

Guide to Indian Cooking Classes

A survey revealed that 6 out of 10 people rely on convenience cooking products like meal kits and pre-made sauces. The reason? A lack of confidence in their own culinary abilities! This highlights a need for more accessible cooking resources and educational opportunities to empower people to embrace cooking at home.

Enter the world of Indian cooking classes – a delightful space to unlock the secrets behind these beloved dishes. Whether you're a seasoned cook or a complete beginner, these classes cater to all skill levels, providing a fun and immersive way to explore the wonders of Indian cooking.

A Journey Through Spice and Technique

Indian cooking classes offer a unique blend of hands-on learning and cultural exploration. Skilled instructors with years of experience, guide you through the intricacies of building spice blends, mastering cooking techniques like tempering (“tadka” in Indian language), and exploring regional specialties.

The focus is often on creating a complete meal, from fragrant appetisers to flavourful curries and fluffy breads. You'll learn to identify essential spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric, understand their roles in creating depth of flavour, and discover the art of balancing sweet, savoury, and spicy elements.

Many classes delve into specific regional cuisines, such as the rich curries of South India, the tandoori delights of the North, or the coastal seafood specialties. This allows you to explore the diverse culinary landscape of India and discover dishes that tantalise your taste buds.

Interactive Spice Exploration: Dive deep into the world of Indian spices with Mum! She'll spend about 30 minutes weaving a tapestry of knowledge about spice balance, health benefits, and personal stories that bring these traditions to life.

The real highlight, however, comes after the individual groups finish their dishes. Here's where "Mum," the heart and soul of the brand, steps in! You'll have the opportunity to cook alongside her, learn her secrets and create another dish together.

Collaborative Cooking: After this insightful session, we'll switch gears and get hands-on! We'll divide into small groups of 3, with each group tackling a delicious dish alongside Mum. While one group cooks, the others can observe and ask questions, ensuring everyone learns by doing and watching.
