How to Make a Single Serve

Perfect for lunch or a light dinner. Ready in minutes and full of flavour.


Method:

  1. Add 1 tablespoon of Sobhna's Instant Dhal to a cup of boiling water

  2. Mix well until smooth

  3. Add salt to taste


Optional:

  • A squeeze of lemon juice

  • Half a diced tomato



How to Make a Family Meal

A simple way to feed the whole family.


Method:

  1. Add 75g of Instant Dhal to a bowl

  2. Add 4 cups of boiling water

  3. Whisk until smooth

  4. Add one diced tomato

  5. Simmer gently for a few minutes


Add more hot water if needed to reach your preferred consistency




Add a Tarka for Extra Flavour

If you have a little extra time, a tarka adds incredible flavour.


How to do it:

  1. Heat ghee or oil in a small pan

  2. Add:

    • Cumin seeds

    • Mustard seeds

    • Chopped garlic

    • Curry leaves

    • Green chilli

    • Kashmiri chilli powder


Pour over your dhal and enjoy the aroma. A simple favourite is garlic and curry leaves.

Ingredients


Optional:

  • 1 teaspoon ghee or oil

  • Fresh coriander

  • Green chilli

 

Method

  1. Add the Instant Dhal to a bowl

  2. Pour in the boiling water and whisk until smooth

  3. Heat ghee or oil in a small pan

  4. Add the diced tomato to your ghee or oil 

  5. Stir for a minute or so, before adding a tablespoon of Sobhna’s Curry Paste

  6. Pour in the whisked Instant Dhal

  7. Simmer gently for a few minutes


Stir occasionally as it cooks. Add more hot water if needed to reach your preferred consistency.


Optional tips: Adding roasted cumin and curry leaves into the hot ghee/oil before adding your diced tomatoes will give an extra layer of flavour!


How to Serve

Serve your dhal with:

  • Warm naan

  • Steamed rice

  • Or enjoy on its own
